All right ya'll, I wouldn't usually post about something other than fashion, but I figured now is as good a time as any to clue you in on why I have been so MIA lately.

Not many of you know, but I grew up working in my parent's cookie and coffee shop, where I started my long career in customer service at age six. And now, many years later, we are opening a breakfast restaurant! There is so much work that goes into owning and operating a small business. Taking pictures of, and taste testing all this fabulous food chief among them! I would be remiss to say that we haven't encountered our fair share of setbacks, but am happy to report that we will be fully functional in about a month (finally!). So, if you ever find yourself in the Denver area, be sure to swing by and see me!

P.S. I sincerely apologize for my infrequent comings and goings here on RWF (and my lack of support lately for my fellow bloggers), and greatly appreciate your patience while I figure out my new schedule (6am openings mean 4am wake-up calls, and early to bed without much time for outfit pictures). To make up for it, feel free to ogle this photo of my dad's "world famous" cinnamon rolls. You're welcome!

ModCloth 1

ModCloth 1 by alexandrarwf

Phew! Things have been insanely busy lately (more on that very soon)! So busy, that we still haven't gone on that date night I wanted for Valentine's Day (that burger is still looking mighty good...). So when ModCloth contacted me in regards to building a total ModCloth look around this fabulous cobalt dress, I jumped at the chance to put together a look for our long awaited evening out! Soon (hint-hint...)?

1: I have a thing for big African-esque statement jewelry lately, and this mixed media necklace totally fits the bill. I especially love the little gold needle things!
2: Seriously this dress is perfect! The simple shape can be dressed up or down, and the subtle texture and detailing offers a bit of oomph. Plus it has pockets! Sold!
3: These little glovettes are so bad ass, they are definitely coming home to me!
4: A dainty statement cuff. Oxymoron? I think not.
5: Adding a swipe of eyeliner is a quick and easy way to add some nighttime flare to an otherwise daytime outfit, and this liquid liner by The Balm is one of my faves.
6: Neutrals are my bag (literally in this case), and because this little one has both browns and blacks it can go with anything!
7: I have several real tattoos, but instantly fell in love with these super feminine temporary ones. I mean seriously, how cute are they? Maybe they would scratch my itch for some fresh ink!
8: Do I need another pair of black booties? Of course I do!

P.P.S. I totally forgot to announce the winner of the Valentine's Day giveaway! Congrats Anna K!

Shoes/Dress(similar)/Wallet: Target, Jacket: H&M, Bracelet: Handmade in Santa Fe, Belt (insanely old): I don't recall where,
Ring: Stella&Dot, Earrings: Forever21, Sunglasses (old): Ray-Ban

I never watched Sex and the City. Probably because I was too young when it first came on, and I never had girlfriends to watch it with as I got older.  Blasphemy, I know! But recently it was brought to my attention that HBO has a collection of complete series OnDemand, and well, I can't resist. The style inspiration I have been missing out on all these years is endless!

This look is my interpretation of Carrie's outfit in the first movie, where she calls Samantha to tell her she is getting married. I saw her pink dress look, and immediately dug out this studded belt I have been hoarding since probably middle school. Perfect.

P.S. I have been growing out my hair since September. And the longer it got, the less I felt like myself. What I really loved about my pixie cut was how it made me feel, like it enhanced my badass attitude and gave me a confidence boost. Being close to a very short bob made me feel like I was losing my edge, and I hated it. So I abandoned the goal of achieving all one length, and decided to shave the sides. And voila! It feels good to be back!

Pants/Jacket: Target, Shoes (old): Nike, Gold Ring: Stella&Dot, Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

It's official, I have become one of those people. One of those organic foods shopping, exercise obsessed, people who wear workout gear in public. I swore it would never happen, but it has. And I am really not ashamed. In fact, here in outdoor-centric Colorado, fitness gear (and even those Five Finger Shoes) is a socially accepted norm.

P.S. I have even taken this whole fitness business a step farther, and become an Independent Team Beachbody coach! So if you are ever in the market for some fantastic quality products, including Shakeology (which I cannot speak of high enough), be sure to hit me up!

P.P.S. Have you entered our Valentine's Day giveaway yet? No? Well click here for your chance to win $100.00 cash!
