Phew! Like everything lately, Mother's Day has kind of snuck up on me. So I got to thinking, what would I want (and actually use) for Mother's Day? And more importantly, can these things be purchased last minute (like, say, Saturday night)?

P.S. You know whats coming... my explanations behind these seemingly random wish list items!
0: Okay, heres the thing, I like to workout at home. Its much more comfortable getting my sweat on when I'm not worried about my muffin top being exposed, or whether my form is worthy of a magazine cover. But I do have a goal this summer, and that is to attend a sunrise yoga session at Red Rocks Amphitheater, and this yoga mat tote would be a perfect way to transport my gear!
1: I have been searching high and low for the perfect pair of mirrored sunnies, and owning these guys would put an end to my efforts.
2: I carry a lot of crap around. My lunchbox, my laptop, my wallet, an abundance of paperwork and business cards (with cards for the blog, and cards for the restaurant, I feel like Dolly Levy), pens and notepads, chargers, etc, etc, etc. So it goes without saying that I need a bag to contain it all. And who could say "no" to a gold leather bag?
3: There's always one item on these wish lists that I end up buying before the post goes live, and these Nike Studio Wraps are the ones for today. Usually a barefoot exerciser, I found myself yearning for just a little extra support and traction without losing that natural barefoot feeling, and these shoes fit the bill perfectly! I highly recommend them!
4: I have been trying to incorporate a little more color into my wardrobe (mostly unsuccessfully), and turquoise has quickly become one of my favorites. This necklace would go perfectly with my growing collection of bohemian vintage jewelry, and add just a little punch to my otherwise mundane jeans and t-shirt uniform.
5: Guys, I have a confession. I cannot stop looking at home decor on Pinterest. It is a sickness, and I need to seek help. I have noticed, through hours of research, that my home lacks the small details of a perfectly staged house, and so things like decorative trays to catch sundry items have made their way onto my list.
6: I never drank coffee, preferring instead to drink soda after soda on the daily. In January I went cold turkey on the canned stuff, and ended up picking up a black coffee habit instead. Replacing one habit with another? Yes. But is it ultimately a better choice? Absolutely! Coffee is my friend, and that friend would look dandy (and stay warm) in this fancy tumbler.
7: There is one potential downfall to losing weight and inches, and that is no longer fitting into your favorite clothes. These high waisted jeans from American Eagle are the best, and I need a replacement pair, stat!
8: You know how they say that you should have to keep a plant alive before you enter a relationship? Well my ability to nurture vegetation doesn't extend far past cacti. What does that say about my qualifications as a mother? And my kids would love the name of this "money tree"!
9: Stacks of rings are huge right now, and I find myself being drawn to statement rings. Especially statement rings to match the summer boho vibe I have been feeling lately.
10: So I had a little accident (the first of it's kind in all the years I have been carrying a cell), and ended up needing to get a new phone. Having this beauty of a case by Dannijo would no doubt be the only thing I could ever afford from their lovely collections.

A LOT ON MY PLATE






All right ya'll, I wouldn't usually post about something other than fashion, but I figured now is as good a time as any to clue you in on why I have been so MIA lately. 

Not many of you know, but I grew up working in my parent's cookie and coffee shop, where I started my long career in customer service at age six. And now, many years later, we are opening a breakfast restaurant! There is so much work that goes into owning and operating a small business. Taking pictures of, and taste testing all this fabulous food chief among them! I would be remiss to say that we haven't encountered our fair share of setbacks, but am happy to report that we will be fully functional in about a month (finally!). So, if you ever find yourself in the Denver area, be sure to swing by and see me!

I sincerely apologize for my infrequent comings and goings here on RWF (and my lack of support lately for my fellow bloggers), and greatly appreciate your patience while I figure out my new schedule (6am openings mean 4am wake-up calls, and early to bed without much time for outfit pictures). DATE NIGHT WITH MODCLOTH

Phew! Things have been insanely busy lately (more on that very soon)! So busy, that we still haven't gone on that date night I wanted for Valentine's Day (that burger is still looking mighty good...). So when ModCloth contacted me in regards to building a total ModCloth look around this fabulous cobalt dress, I jumped at the chance to put together a look for our long awaited evening out! Soon (hint-hint...)?

P.S.
1: I have a thing for big African-esque statement jewelry lately, and this mixed media necklace totally fits the bill. I especially love the little gold needle things!
2: Seriously this dress is perfect! The simple shape can be dressed up or down, and the subtle texture and detailing offers a bit of oomph. Plus it has pockets! Sold!
3: These little glovettes are so bad ass, they are definitely coming home to me!
4: A dainty statement cuff. Oxymoron? I think not.
5: Adding a swipe of eyeliner is a quick and easy way to add some nighttime flare to an otherwise daytime outfit, and this liquid liner by The Balm is one of my faves.
6: Neutrals are my bag (literally in this case), and because this little one has both browns and blacks it can go with anything!
7: I have several real tattoos, but instantly fell in love with these super feminine temporary ones. I mean seriously, how cute are they? Maybe they would scratch my itch for some fresh ink!
8: Do I need another pair of black booties? Of course I do!

CARRIE CRUSH

I never watched Sex and the City. Probably because I was too young when it first came on, and I never had girlfriends to watch it with as I got older.  Blasphemy, I know! But recently it was brought to my attention that HBO has a collection of complete series OnDemand, and well, I can't resist. The style inspiration I have been missing out on all these years is endless! 

This look is my interpretation of Carrie's outfit in the first movie, where she calls Samantha to tell her she is getting married. I saw her pink dress look, and immediately dug out this studded belt I have been hoarding since probably middle school. Perfect. 

P.S. I have been growing out my hair since September. And the longer it got, the less I felt like myself. What I really loved about my pixie cut was how it made me feel, like it enhanced my badass attitude and gave me a confidence boost. Being close to a very short bob made me feel like I was losing my edge, and I hated it. So I abandoned the goal of achieving all one length, and decided to shave the sides. And voila! It feels good to be back!
