Belt(old)/Purse(old): H&M, Shoes: Nordstrom, Dress (apparently unavailable online): Target, Earrings: Forever21,
I bought this dress a few weeks ago and have been saving it for cooler weather (the fabric is kind of toasty), but got tired of waiting around, so decided to wear it anyway (bad idea). I do love the shape though, and can already picture it layered over a turtleneck and tights, or worn beneath a chunky sweater.
I was stopped in my tracks today by the sheer number of apples on this crab apple tree! Crab apples always remind me of a particularly (well, the only) juvenile delinquent moment of my childhood. My family owned and operated a restaurant while I was growing up, and outside the restaurant was a bank of crab apple trees. My friends (the children of patrons) and I would pluck the apples from the trees and draw faces on them. Innocent enough.
One day, we decided to see who could throw the apples the farthest, into the parking lot full of cars. Which then turned into a rousing game of throwing apples at passing cars. After quite a while, we actually made contact with the back window of one such vehicle, which then slammed on its brakes. We were then approached by a very upset middle aged woman (she was probably my age now) who demanded that we tell her where our parents were, so that we could no doubt be reprimanded. We must have looked rather pathetic though, because she decided not to hunt down our guardians and left after administering a stern warning about property damage*. The kicker though, is that a few days later the angry woman from the parking lot got into the grocery checkout line, right behind us! She didn't, however, mention the incident to our parents. Thank you very much!
*Nothing was (or could be) broken by airborne crab apples.
