It is my birthday! I try in vain to stretch this day into a “birthday week” by guilt tripping my husband into tickling my back, or using it as an excuse to get out of house work; but generally my birthday celebrations are pretty low key. A day I can apparently use as a reason to pose roadside with a bunch of balloons, and who wouldn’t have fun with that?!
Birthdays are a big deal for my kids, celebrated with a slew of traditions. The night before their big day, I decorate the kitchen so that when they come down for breakfast the house looks festive. They can choose what they want to eat for both lunch and dinner, and my mother always decorates a cake to match their chosen theme. When I was a kid, we would look through our baby albums every year on our big day, so I thought it might be fun to attach a couple pictures here and carry on the tradition:
